Another
event which is the topic of much media attention is the planned 10 day
international gay festival to be held this summer in Jerusalem. In a
rare move, Jewish Christian and Muslim religious leaders all came
together , discussed the issue and issued a joint statement condemning
the festival explaining that it is an affront to the holiness of
Jerusalem and is extremely offensive to the followers of all 3 faiths.
The police have not yet decided whether or not to issue a permit for
the event, but chances are very high that they will and they have
promised to bring as many reinforcements as necessary to make sure
everything runs smoothly, and that threats of violence against the
event are not carried out. Contrast this with the Revava to the Temple Mount initiative. A large group of Jews from all over Israel simply want to exercise their religious rights as Jews and visit the holiest site to the Jewish People. There are no plans to cause any provocations or unrest, storm the mosques or any such thing despite what the overactive imaginations of the police and media will lead you to believe. The reason given by the police for disallowing the mass ascent is a fear of Muslim violence. That was their excuse in keeping the Temple Mount closed for several years, and when it finally was opened to Jews there were NO incidents of violence reported. In fact the Arabs (with the exception of the Wakf watchdogs) barely even pay attention to the Jewish visitors to the site. Here too it is no more than a packaged excuse to mask their blatant discrimination against Jews in the name of "maintaining order" If the police could muster up enough forces to secure the funeral of PLO terrorist Faisal Husseni who was buried on the Temple Mount after a wild procession through Jerusalem, there is no doubt that they could easily handle a peaceful religious gathering, if they had the slightest interest in doing so. The priorities of the Israeli government and Police are clear. They are more than willing to bring in reinforcements from all over Israel to provide security for a 10 day gay festival which polls show 76% of Jerusalem's residents are against, an unprecedented insult to the religious communities of all faiths and a defilement of the Holy City, "The Palace of the King", but when a few thousand Jews ask quietly to be allowed merely to VISIT one of their holy sites, the police slam the door in their face and claim that "the risk of violence" is too great to allow the event. They are unwilling to even allow a rally OUTSIDE the Temple Mount demanding religious freedom for Jews at the site.Very fitting for a state whose leaders bend over backwards to show the world how progressive and democratic they are. Who would have dreamed that in a Jewish state preferential treatment will be given to those who trample on G-d and his Torah and do everything in their power to destroy any sanctity in the lives of the People of Israel? Who would have dreamed that the police would allow a blatantly offensive anti-religious provocation to take place in downtown Jerusalem, but bar a bunch of peaceful law abiding Jews from worshiping G-d? Why does freedom of expression in Israel apply to everyone EXCEPT Torah Jews? The only conclusion to be reached is that those currently in charge have but one goal, to strip Israel of all its Jewishness and at the same time import as much filth and impurity as possible ideally transforming the State of Israel into a Hebrew Speaking Amsterdam or Paris. Help us make sure that this does not happen! |
